Jai Mexis

Ceo AstroLab

Jai, is an award-winning architect and one of the leading young social entrepreneurs in Greece. Jai is the Founder of Olon Architects, a Greek architecture company, and Co-Founder and Director of Odyssea, a humanitarian startup in Greece focused on up-cycling, digital fabrication and design. He was awarded the City of Glasgow Eimear Kelt Medal for Architecture 2014, as well as several other architecture prizes. Jai specializes in the intersection of social design and architecture for humanitarian relief. His practice is already completing the design & construction of a large 4000m2 community center in the outskirts of Athens as well as, a large school for 800 orphan children in Enugu, Nigeria amongst other humanitarian & tech architectural projects.

Nota Tsekoura

Project Manager | Academy Director AstroLab

Nota Tsekoura is an Architect Engineer. She holds a masters in Advanced Architecture from UPC | IAAC Barcelona Spain, focusing on architecture and urbanism, ranging from large-scale environments to Digital Fabrication. She is a graduate of the University of Patras with a 5-year degree in Architecture [BSc. Arch, MSc. Arc joined diploma]. Among others, her education includes visual arts and theatrical studies. She is the founder and general director of Space Under and Sound Tectonics international workshops. Currently she is the Chief Project Manager of Odyssea and she is directing the academy of AstroLab (Fabrication Laboratory for Social Innovation). She has conducted several educational workshops that lay in the intersection of architecture, art and technology. As a freelancer she has designed and constructed commercial projects with Digital Fabrication and new media technology. Prior to that, Nota was the academic coordinator of the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia [IAAC], one of the two designers and developers for the design of the 1st international 3d printing exhibition “Fully Print3d. Printing objects” at Dhub Barcelona. Nota has worked in several Architectural firms in Greece and abroad on projects ranging from territorial scale to building and interior design. Nota has participated in different international exhibitions among others at the Spanish pavilion | academic lab of the Venice Biennale 2012 “Common Grounds”. Some of her curatorial proposals have been shortlisted in different competitions. Nota explores the dialogue between art and architecture from spatial, environmental, cultural, philosophical and practical aspects of everyday life. Her main focus lies on Digital Fabrication, New Media applications as well as the intersections between sound art and architecture.

Antonis Kiourktsis

Head of Design | Technical Manager AstroLab

Antonis Kiourktsis is an Architect Engineer, contextual designer and digital artist born in Athens (1981). He studied architecture in University of Thessaly Greece and contextual design in Design Academy Eindhoven (MDes Contextual Design). He believes there are no boundaries between architecture, design and art and he experiments with various media in order to express his vision. In 2010 he co-founded the creative studio Jazzt Design that focus in conceptual design and limited production of everyday objects, furniture as well as offering architectural & interior design services. Their products can be found in selected spots in Greece and abroad. He has designed private architectural projects and participated in international exhibitions of design and contemporary art by granting honorable mention and prizes: “3Dprintshow” with 3dprinted sculpture (travelling exhibition New York – London – Paris, 2014), “3Dprinting” with 3dprinted jewelry (Athens – Onassis Cultural Center, 2014-2015), INDEX 2014 with Sweet Lace & Holy Granmats! series of furniture and everyday objects (O.P.E. , DUbai ,2014), “Memorabilia, designing souvenirs”, international industrial design competition (Liege 2012), “Young Balkan Designers” 2nd prize for “Holy Granmats!” (Belgrade 2011). He has collaborated with Campana Brothers for designing NEW Hotel in Athens, his design PXL chair was produced for the hotel’s restaurant (Campana Workshop Athens, 2008-2009). He collaborates with sculptor Takis for the production and design curation of the artist’s sculptural objects (2006 – today). He has curated and coordinate design workshops: “RING MIX 1.0” design and production workshop of 3dprinted jewelry ( “Adhocracy” , Athens – Onassis Cultural Center, 2015) , “Nexus” design workshop (Department of Architecture, University of Thessaly – Post Graduate Program, “Post-Industrial Design”, 2015).

Marko Oroz


Marko Oroz is the Managing Director at Refugee Open Ware (ROW), a social enterprise that harnesses advanced technology to reduce suffering and accelerate inclusive development in conflict-affected areas. In this capacity, Marko oversees ROW Labs, the nonprofit arm that develops physical and digital platforms for open innovation (makerspaces, hardware incubators, etc.) as educational, R&D, and entrepreneurship vehicles. Prior to joining ROW, Marko was a management consultant for Deloitte Consulting in Washington D.C. specializing in operations, business model development, and financial consulting for social enterprises. Marko graduated from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service with a degree in Science, Technology, and International Relations. Originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Marko immigrated to the United States with his family in 2001. Marko’s passion lies in utilizing emerging technology and entrepreneurship to empower others and make a positive impact in the world.

Marialena Kemerli

Project Manager Assistant | Academy Admissions

Marialena Kemerli is an accountant, raised in Mytilene, Greece (1989). She studied accounting in the Technological Educational Institution of Western Macedonia and she holds a master’s in master’s degree in Applied Informatics with expertise in Business Computing from the University of Macedonia. Her career is focused in the humanitarian sector. She has worked as Finance Coordinator in Save the Children International and as Finance Manager in Terre des Hommes. Currently she is Project Manager assistant in AstroLab. She has great interest in Integration and educational programs for refugees and vulnerable populations in general.
